1. JointGel® Stimulates Cartilage Growth
Healthy joint cartilage depends on a complex matrix of collagen and proteoglycans that gives cartilage its structure, resilience, and cushioning properties.
That's why JointGel® features FORTIGEL® Bioactive Collagen Peptides — a specific combination of collagen peptides studied for their ability to stimulate cartilage cells called chondrocytes and support the synthesis of important components of the cartilage matrix.*
Unlike ordinary collagen that's used primarily as a source of amino acids, FORTIGEL® provides specific bioactive collagen peptides that have been studied for their effects on cartilage metabolism.*
The image shows cartilage tissue observed after 3 months in a preclinical animal model comparing control with Bioactive Collagen Peptides. But researchers didn't stop with animal studies.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled exploratory study, researchers used a specialized MRI technique called dGEMRIC to examine knee-cartilage composition in people taking 10 grams of FORTIGEL® Bioactive Collagen Peptides daily for 48 weeks.
Researchers reported a statistically significant increase in a proteoglycan-related MRI measure in two knee-cartilage regions compared with placebo at 24 weeks.
Why does that matter?
Proteoglycans are important components of the cartilage matrix and help cartilage retain water and provide cushioning.
