Teaming Up To Eradicate Child Blindness

Since 1994, The Vitamin Angel Alliance, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, has been working to fight malnutrition around the world.

Together We Can Make A Difference

The leading health risk in the world, accounting for more deaths each year than cancer, AIDS, or heart disease, is lack of food. Children are particularly susceptible to malnutrition, and more than 100 million children suffer each year from Vitamin A deficiency. As a result, this year, more than 4,000,000 children will go blind in third world countries. 500,000 of these children will completely lose their vision and half of those will go on to die of simple infections and diseases. That’s why Vitamin Angels has teamed with Nutrition industry leaders to launch Operation 20/20, an effort to completely eradicate blindness caused by Vitamin A deficiency by the year 2020.

Eradicating Child Blindness

All it takes is two high-dose Vitamin A supplements per child per year. Purity Products recently donated $50,000 to Vitamin Angels— enough to prevent up to 200,000 children from going blind, and we will continue to donate. To learn more visit www.vitaminangels.com. Purity Products has also created the "Coffee Clutch for a Cure", where every cup of coffee purchased in the breakroom for 25 cents, is donated to the Vitamin Angels' Operation 20/20. So far in 2009, we have donated on average over $600 per month through our Coffee Clutch program.
